Climate in Mussoorie

Mussourie has a fairly typical subtropical highland climate for the mid-altitude Himalaya. Summers are warm and very wet for the Himalayas but still much cooler by city standards . The pre-monsoon seasons in April and May is warm to very warm and generally dry and clear, giving way to heavy rainfall from mid-June. This transforms the ‘Queen of Hills’ which gets lovingly enveloped with heavy mist and the entire landscape turns a heavenly green after being washed squeaky clean. Little wonder then that Mussoorie is also considered as one of the best monsoon destinations in India. Whilst the post-monsoon season is also dry and clear, it is much more chilling. In winter, rainfall is a little more frequent than in the pre-and post-monsoon seasons, and the general weather is very cool and partly cloudy. Although Mussoorie is usually too low in altitude for snowfalls, one does witness snow in winter months from December to mid-February.
